The mission of Corrections Services is to enhance public safety through the safe and secure incarceration of offenders, effective probation/parole supervision, and proven rehabilitative strategies that successfully reintegrate offenders into society, as well as to assist individuals and communities victimized by crime. Minimum qualifications include:

• Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
• Experience substitution:
  Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
• Necessary special requirements include: possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. This position requires the incumbent to handle and carry firearms. Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

Job duties include:

• Supervising felony and misdemeanor offenders through counseling, case management, and referrals to community resources that support rehabilitation and social adjustment.
• Enforcing conditions of probation and parole by monitoring compliance, managing violations, and participating in all stages of the violation process.
• Conducting criminal justice investigations and preparing reports and recommendations for courts, parole and pardon boards, and other criminal justice decision makers.
• Conducting arrests, transporting violators, and participating in probable cause, revocation, and disciplinary hearings.
• Investigating and managing restitution, supervision fees, fines, court costs, and other criminal justice-related financial obligations.
• Coordinating offender placement in drug treatment, vocational rehabilitation, mental health, and other support programs while providing crisis intervention and emergency assistance resources.
• Administering drug testing, supervising community service activities, and ensuring compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards and agency policies.
• Assisting with jail and contract compliance audits for facilities and Community Rehabilitation Centers (CRCs), including applying defensive tactics and maintaining institutional safety and security.

  Special entrance rates for Probation and Parole Officer 1, 2, and 3-Adult.
