Location: New Orleans
Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior research staff, the Laboratory Assistant performs general laboratory functions, which includes but not limited to assisting in the collection and preparation of cell cultures and specimens for various experiments, ordering and restocking supplies, and washing glassware and instruments. The Laboratory Assistant also supports general administrative activities, such as basic bookkeeping, record keeping, and filing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to carry out instructions and perform duties accurately and safely.
Must be familiar with general laboratory procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good attention to detail and the ability to effectively perform general booking tasks.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
Proficient laboratory record keeping and maintenance skills.
Required Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Previous laboratory experience

This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 20.
