Position SummaryThis job provides individualized medical care of assigned patients in person, electronically, and via telephone under the supervision of a licensed health‑care provider. Responsibilities include delivering health‑care services to patients of diverse backgrounds and ages, maintaining positive patient relationships, coordinating efficient patient flow, communicating with patients by phone, and documenting medical information in the company data systems.
Education- High school diploma (required)
- Completion of a formal medical assistant training program (preferred)
- Experience maintaining confidential information in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision (required)
- Medical Assistant Certification (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (required)
- Clinical knowledge.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to present information clearly and professionally to a variety of individuals throughout the patient‑care process.
- Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
- Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
- Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
- Answers the patient’s questions prior to leaving and prepares the room for the next appointment.
- Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
- Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
- Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials through personal professional development.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, method of introduction, explanation of services or procedures, and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Medium work: lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and newer light work for standing or walking. Duties include routine exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue, and potential exposure to hazardous medications and waste in a healthcare setting.
