Overview
Phlebotomy experience is required. Looking for a highly motivated and positive Medical Assistant to add to our team. Must have a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic phone presence and the ability to interact with patients with a positive CARING impact. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to checking patients in, validating insurance, managing the waiting room, answering phone calls, making appointments, triaging patients, and ensuring a 5-star patient experience.
Able to provide outstanding patient care by applying best practices and quality service to aid in the health and well-being of our patients, while aligning with The Urgent Care mission and values. Candidate must get along well with others and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Greet patients and verify patient contact and insurance data
- Assist in front office duties as needed
- Answer phone calls, schedule check-in times, answer patient questions and take notes for providers
- Stocking and restocking supplies
- Triage patients
- Perform labs ordered by providers
- Administer injections and vaccinations ordered by providers
- Assist in procedures and exams when necessary
- Support the patient and provider throughout the patient visit
- Clinical skills, creating a safe, effective environment, procedural skills, inventory control, EKG, blood draw, administering injections, multi-tasking, flexibility, performing vitals assessment and taking blood pressure, knowledge of universal precautions.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and processes, including needs assessment, quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
- Ability to learn computer software programs; enter and maintain accurate data and statistics; produce clear and concise reports and materials. Critical thinking skills.
- Maintain and perform infection control
- Pleasant interpersonal demeanor and ability to work with all levels of staff and leadership
- Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-patient-volume environment
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Certification or a minimum of 5 years of Medical Assistant experience
- Minimum 5 years of customer service experience
- Phlebotomy experience
- Experience with EMRs (Electronic Medical Records) and medical terminology
- Pass periodic testing triaging patients (e.g., taking blood pressure)
- Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials through ongoing development
- BLS certified within 90 days of employment
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus
- Open and flexible availability (minimum 20-30 hours per week)
- Ability to commute between two of our five clinics (Locations: Gretna, Harvey, Mid-City, Uptown, LaPlace)
