- Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR
- Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.

Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

May be used by all state agencies. - Job Distinctions:
Differs from Nursing Assistant 2 by the absence of responsibility for more advanced duties and the absence of lead worker responsibilities. Differs from Nursing Unit Aide by the presence of responsibility for performance of sub professional nursing duties. - Measuring and recording vital signs and basic patient care tasks; documenting admissions and other medical records as directed; assisting with activities of daily living; sterilizing equipment and supplies; distributing linen; transporting and assisting with patient care and examinations; infection control and safety responsibilities; and completing required training programs (e.g., CPR, First Aid, infection control) to maintain hospital standards.
