The Opportunity
Position: Dietitian (Nutritionist) – Limited Duration Assignment (LDA). The assignment is expected to last up to two years, but may end sooner. The position is open until filled and will be available at multiple WIC clinic locations across Multnomah County.

Responsibilities- Provide medical nutrition assessment, education, and care planning for high‑risk women, infants, and children.
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments, including evaluation of weight, growth, BMI, blood work, medication use, typical diet, allergies, food insecurity, and other social/medical factors.
- Develop individualized care plans and provide counseling/education in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.
- Communicate with WIC participants in person, over the phone, and through electronic means.
- Determine nutrition risk, provide nutrition education, set goals, and assign food benefits.
- Document all services in the State's TWIST electronic records system.
- Schedule appropriate follow‑up appointments.
- Review, assess, and process WIC Medical Documents for appropriate client formula and supplements.
- Communicate with health care providers to coordinate care and clarify information.
- Offer breastfeeding promotion and information at prenatal WIC appointments.
- Provide individualized support, including breast pump issuance and education, to breastfeeding mothers.
- Make referrals to community and WIC clinic lactation specialists when necessary.
- Refer participants to local resources (health, food, housing, etc.).
- Serve as the clinic's nutrition content expert, providing consultation to other WIC staff.
- Monitor the call back log and perform follow‑up calls for food package changes, breastfeeding/formula issues, and review reports for clients needing follow‑up.
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
- One to four years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Must be certified or become eligible for registration (RD) by passing a Commission for Dietetic Registration exam within six months of hire.
- A valid BLS/CPR card issued by the American Heart Association or similar agency, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire is required.
- Bilingual:
Spanish knowledge preferred.
- Initial review of minimum qualifications.
- Evaluation of application materials to identify the most qualified candidates.
- Consideration of top candidates for interviews.
- Background, reference, and education checks.
Pay range: $34.80 – $42.71 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined in accordance with the Oregon Equal Pay Law and will consider the candidate's relevant experience and education.

full‑time, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

onsite across all Multnomah County WIC clinic locations, including AVIVA clinic at 458 SE 185th Ave, Portland, OR 97233, and East County WIC at 600 NE 8th St, Room 230, Gresham, OR 9703.
