EMT, Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Services ​/ EMS

Overview

Under general supervision, performs rescue and emergency medical care functions. Maintains readiness to respond 24/7 to emergency calls, including responding to assignments; scene assessment and safety; routing and coordinating resources; managing emergency scenes and communications; inventory, stocking, and cleaning of equipment/unit; documentation; staffing the emergency center; and other duties as assigned. Reports to the EMS Manager.

• Respond to emergency calls and provide EMS care as an EMT-Basic (certification level) and perform related duties as outlined by certification; drive and maneuver emergency vehicles; assess scenes and safety; request, route, and coordinate resources; manage emergency scenes and communications; perform inventory, stocking, and cleaning of equipment/unit; perform documentation; staff the emergency center.

• High school diploma or GED; successful completion of State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services EMT-Basic training with EMT certification obtained through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
• Current EMT-Basic certification in Louisiana;
  American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); CPR/AED.
• Valid Class D driver’s license; clean driving record; ability to pass criminal background check.
• Satisfactory physical condition (including back, vision, and hearing).
• Honest and exhibit good moral/ethical behavior.
• Attach a copy of your valid Driver’s License and certifications with the application.
