We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations. The individual selected for this role will be eligible for contract extension or consideration for permanent hire based on performance and business needs. The PIC will serve as the pharmacist responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications, operational oversight, and leadership of pharmacy staff.
Responsibilities- Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, assuming full legal and regulatory responsibility for pharmacy operations.
- Ensure compliance with all South Dakota Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Oversee daily workflow to ensure safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications.
- Supervise, train, and support pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and required reporting.
- Implement and enforce pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Address operational issues, audits, and inspections as needed.
- Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary partners to support patient care and operational goals.
- Ensure inventory control, medication storage, and controlled substance management are compliant and up to date.
- Doctorate of Pharmacy
- Active unrestricted SD Pharmacist License
- Experience with Medicaid and Medicare
- Clinical review and prior authorization expertise
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux City, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $63.00 – $69.00/hr.
