job summarysupports the pharmacy department in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
job relationships- responsible to the pharmacy director

- regular contact with all hospital departments and personnel, including physicians, and external pharmacies and vendors.

essential job functionseducation: high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is required. Must have an active pharmacy technician licensure in the state of louisiana.
work experience: one (1) year of pharmacy technician experience is preferred
required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- strong attention to detail and accuracy
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
- basic computer and data entry skills
- organization and time management skills
- ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- knowledge of medication safety and handling procedures
- familiarity with pharmacy laws and regulations
- basic understanding of pharmacy operations and medication terminology
- prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer
- frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment
- occasionally move about the department and facility campus to access medication storage areas, medication carts, hospital departments, patient care areas, etc.
- frequently position self, such as bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, or twisting, while maintaining medication storage, retrieving and handling inventory, reviewing medication expirations, etc.
- ability to communicate information accurately so others will understand
- ability to hear and respond to telephone calls, alarms, and normal office conversations
- visual acuity sufficient to read medication labels, written communication, and computer screens
- frequently move, lift, push, or pull boxes, medication inventory, medication carts, etc. Weighing up to 25 pounds for various needs.
