Radiology Technologist - Clinic PRN Premium Job Description
Performs radiologic exams and procedures. Provides patient privacy and confidentiality. Ensures patient care is performed in an efficient manner, meeting standards consistent with infection control policies and OLOLRMC Standards for Service Excellence. Responsible for the safe operation of radiologic equipment utilized in patient care and maintains current knowledge of the operation of any equipment used.
Responsibilities- Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical records, significant others, and health care providers. Examines radiographic requisition to verify accuracy, confirms patient identity, gathers information relevant for determining type and dosage of contrast agent, evaluates risk of adverse reaction, and provides pre‑ and post‑procedural explanations and instructions to patient and/or their family. Documents required information in appropriate records.
- Equipment Operation:
Ensures all work areas and equipment are clean, disinfected, and presentable, disposes of contaminated items, and operates the Radiology Information System and Picture Archival and Communication System efficiently and accurately. - Quality:
Observes and adheres to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and departmental policies. Takes appropriate precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patient and self, wearing a personnel monitoring device while on duty (ALARA). Selects equipment and accessories for requested examinations, evaluates radiographic images for diagnostic quality, and processes exposed images. - Other duties as needed:
Performs other duties as assigned or requested, and performs duties of Radiology Transporter when necessary.
- Two years of clinical training in an AMA‑approved program.
- Post‑High‑School vocational or specialized training.
- American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification and current Louisiana Registered Radiologic (LSRT) license. New graduates are eligible for ARRT and current LSRT or a current LSRT temporary license, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
