Job Overview
This position involves receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests and calculations, and providing accurate data for diagnosis and treatment of disease. The role requires performing quality control procedures, evaluating test performance, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment, performing phlebotomy procedures as appropriate, and ensuring patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities- Receive, prepare, and handle specimens according to standard protocols and procedures.
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, including calculations and data analysis.
- Conduct quality control, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting; make judgments regarding results and take corrective actions.
- Calibrate, maintain, and monitor analytical equipment.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures when required.
- Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines and accreditation standards; keep up-to-date with current checklist and standards.
- Follow safety guidelines, OIG compliance, and proficiency testing protocols.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and assist in data collection and analysis.
- Manage supply and reagent inventory to support business development and cost reduction initiatives.
- Adapt interactions to the patient population, respecting privacy and communication preferences.
- Execute other related duties as required and maintain awareness of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or related science. Copy of transcript required.

Current state license (if applicable). Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (ASCP, AMT, or AAB). - Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree, College Diploma, or Military MLT certificate in the relevant science field. Copy of transcript required.
- Minimum Experience: Hospital or clinical laboratory testing experience preferred.

Current Clinical Lab Scientist Technician license or equivalent. Must obtain license within 90 days of hire. - Certification Maintenance: Incumbents certified by ASCP on or after January 1, 2004, must complete the ASCP Certification Maintenance Program.
- Computer skills for data entry and patient information retrieval; proficiency with Windows applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication; ability to present information clearly to varied audiences.
- Good analytical and problem‑solving skills; sound judgment in performing duties.
- Interpersonal skills and conflict resolution ability.
- Adaptability to the patient population and ability to maintain professional patient interactions.
The role requires occasional lifting of 50 to 100 pounds and frequent lifting of 25 to 50 pounds, with some constant light lifting. The job involves prolonged standing, sitting, stooping, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Employees must be able to work a flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call). Duties may expose individuals to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases. Hazardous medications or waste may be present.
Mechanical lifting devices or team lifts should be used whenever possible.
