Pre-Award Specialist III

This is a full-time position within the Tulane Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure sound financial management of clinical research within the university by providing financial support for clinical trials, as well as guidance on research finance clinical research staff and administrators. Responsibilities include developing, negotiating, and executing budgets for clinical trials; performing Medicare coverage analyses for clinical trials to confirm billing compliance;

providing management, training, and other support related to Tulane's clinical trial management system. This position also serves as a resource for guidance on issues related to clinical research finance and provides ongoing education to support research budgeting, labor distribution, financial management, invoicing, and other topics. The Pre-Award Specialist also contributes information and ideas related to areas of responsibility as part of a cross functional team.

Ensures effective and efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards for staff/program and self.

• Knowledge of clinical research activity and an understanding of key cost drivers and related fees
• Knowledge of Medicare coverage principles through clinical or research experience
• Ability to quickly grasp and apply standard operating procedures for clinical trial start-up in the context of budget and coverage analysis.
