Job Summary
Provides high‑quality, advanced life support in a pre‑hospital setting. Responsible for delivering care in accordance with standard protocols and augmenting emergency department staff at various hospitals, treating patients of all ages in a wide variety of environments.
Responsibilities- Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
- Provides customer service to patients, families and staff.
- Participates in activities for professional development, maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials and assumes responsibility for maintaining knowledge of departmental policies/procedures.
- Demonstrates responsibility for the proper safekeeping and use of the advanced life support items used along with supervising other emergency personnel who may be present at the scene providing patient care.
- Performs intake of medical history, performs physical exams, controls bleeding, provides airway control, restores and maintains circulation.
- Consistently provides accurate documentation of patient care delivered to ensure accurate processing of billing to remain in compliance with departmental guidelines.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respecting privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.

- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.

High school diploma or equivalent.
ExperiencePreferred – Two years as a Registered EMT/Paramedic, Two years driving emergency vehicles, Completion of a PHTLS Course (Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support).
Certifications- Licensed in the state of practice as an EMT/Paramedic.
- Registered with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT/Paramedic.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Current Driver’s License Class E in state of practice.
- Completion of Defensive Driving Course within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of Haz‑Mat Awareness Training.
Very Heavy Work – Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those for Heavy Work. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The role may involve occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
