This job works hand in hand with the specialty pharmacy team members, referring doctors, nursing staff, and care coordinators. Responsible for working directly with patients to navigate the specialty pharmacy process, ensuring patients receive timely access to their prescribed medications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating processing, filling, packing, and shipping of prescriptions. Maintains inventory. Assists with intake and refills as necessary.
Participates in special projects/committees as needed.

EducationRequired – High school diploma or equivalent
Work ExperienceRequired – 2 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician
Preferred – Experience in Specialty Pharmacy
CertificationRequired – Pharmacy Technician Certification in the state of practice
KnowledgeSkills and Abilities

Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
Negotiation skills to assist the patient in navigation of the health care system.
Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to multitask.
Work independently and as a team.
Strong interpersonal skills
Maintains inventory and ordering.
Communicates and acts as liaison between insurance company, patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy team.
Maintains documentation relative to the job.
Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education.
Maintains efficiency in specialty pharmacy intake technician and specialty pharmacy refill advocate roles.
Assists with special projects/ committees.
Performs all job duties in accordance with company Specialty Pharmacy policies and accrediting bodies.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Other related duties as required.
