LEAP Project Coordinator

Position group:
Professional & Scientific. Classification:
Program Specialist I. Term:
Fixed term through 9/30/2027. Office:
Extension office in Iowa; location determined by office availability. Technical Focus:
Supporting the LEAP program which addresses obesity in six selected Iowa counties funded by CDC.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to staff and partners on program planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Coordinate trainings and collaborate with external experts to support program needs.
  • Develop tools, resources, and guidance for program activities across multiple levels.
  • Build and maintain partnerships to support program goals and funding opportunities.
  • Support advisory groups, stakeholder engagement, and partner initiatives.
  • Coordinate data collection efforts and manage data systems and tools.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports, including required program and grant reporting.
  • Oversee daily program operations, team coordination, and project activities.
  • Manage communications, including website content, social media, and newsletters.
  • Represent the program at meetings, trainings, and events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • Experience with program evaluation frameworks/tools, especially in public health or community-based settings.
  • Familiarity with federal nutrition programs (e.g., SNAP, WIC) and/or Food is Medicine initiatives.
  • Project coordination across multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Experience developing communication materials or plans for programs, ideally in a public health or nutrition-related setting.
  • Experience with data collection for federally funded projects.
