Promptly responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, non-emergencies and interfacility transports. Provides efficient and immediate basic or advanced life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital. Treats patients in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards and protocols.

Job Duties:EMT-Ps will provide an assessment of patients, determine necessary care and deliver emergency services by utilizing appropriate medical techniques and equipment.Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followedSatisfactorily perform all skills and procedures as designed by the Indiana EMS Commission curriculumEffectively communicating with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/ or to arrange reception of patients to the appropriate centerDocument patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.Take pride in providing a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients.EMT-Ps operate an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies, and traffic laws related to the operation of emergency medical response vehicles.Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow EMTs.Maintain his or her in-service education as prescribed by the Indiana State EMS AgencySecondary
Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
Participate in community programs to establish strong community relationsHelp maintain a clean and hazard free work environment by performing such cleaning chores as requested both on or in a vehicle and stationPrior to each shift and in accordance with Indiana law, the EMT will account for, check operability of, and be responsible for certifying that all required and basic equipment are operational, functional and located on the assigned unitEducate and/ train squad personnel, EMS trainees and the publicJob Specifications:
- Education:
- Valid IN State Driver’s License
- State of Indiana Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Current Advanced Life Support Certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
- Pass State of Indiana Criminal Background Check
- Pass Indiana BMV Motor Vehicle Report
- Experience:
- One – Two years EMS or healthcare experience preferred
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of unrestricted licensed driving experience
