ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reproductive Health Assistants (RHAs) participate in a team approach to patient care which requires effectively communicating with patients from a wide range of backgrounds and ages and supporting their healthcare experience with compassion and excellent care. The RHA is responsible for assisting patients including, but not limited to, front desk operations, patient education, patient care, laboratory work, sonogram services, surgical support and recovery.

These responsibilities require the RHA to train and work at multiple stations.

Front Desk
  • Performs front desk functions including answering phones, greeting, and checking‐in patients.
  • Financial responsibilities: collects health plan authorization, insurance cards, completes appropriate forms, obtains signatures, verifies patient insurance, determines payment responsibility, posts charges and payments, enters data accurately for patient visits and fees, prepares deposit slips, runs end‑of‑day reports, and adheres to all money handling procedures.
Education
  • Conducts patient educational sessions including providing informed consent counseling, ensuring the patient understands and agrees to their medical care, and that the patient makes voluntary decisions.
  • Counsels patient on options after pregnancy including parenting, adoption, and abortions.
  • Provides clients with accurate information regarding services, contraception, options, and funding sources.
Laboratory
  • Practical patient identification, labels vials with patient names and dates.
  • Determines best method for drawing blood, collects samples, prepares specimens, performs basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposes of contaminated supplies, sterilizes instruments, and performs other procedures as requested.
  • Complies with center policy on leaving samples for transportation to laboratory.
  • Conducts tests according to CLIA standards and adheres to OSHA regulations.
  • Practices infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
Patient Care
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing, recording medical and social history, taking vital signs, confirming purpose of visit or treatment, reviewing medications and allergies, and recording examination, treatment, and test results.
  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examination room, providing examination gowns and drapes, helping them position, and arranging instruments and supplies.
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations and performing basic laboratory tests on the premises.
GENERAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations.
  • Maintains technical knowledge through workshops, professional publications, and webinars.
  • Maintains confidentiality of agency information, employee nonpublic personal information (NPI) and personal health information (PHI) and complies with patient rights regulations.
  • Adheres to policies regarding professionalism, minimizing wait time, addressing complaints, and implementing satisfaction surveys.
  • Supports and carries out the organization’s mission and provides education that promotes informed and authentic sexuality.
  • Supports the onboarding of teammates.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to maintain effective functioning of the department and advance the mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, including electronic health records (EHR) experience. Epic experience preferred.
SALARY AND SCHEDULE

$20.31 – $20.31 per hour

37.5 hour work week

13 paid holidays
