Paramedic - Emergency Medical Services - St. Charles Parish Hospital - PRN

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality advanced life support in a pre‑hospital setting.
• Provide care consistent with the general standard of care according to treatment protocols.
• Augment emergency department staff at various hospitals in the emergency care of sick and injured patients.
• Assess and treat patients of all ages in a variety of uncontrolled environments.
• Perform intake of medical history, conduct physical examinations, control bleeding, provide airway control, and restore and maintain circulation.
• Provide consistently accurate documentation of patient care for billing and compliance purposes.
• Demonstrate responsibility for safekeeping and use of advanced life support items and supervise other emergency personnel at the scene.
• Provide customer service to patients, families, and staff.

High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an approved EMT/Paramedic Program.

• Two years of experience as a Registered EMT/Paramedic.
• Two years of experience driving emergency vehicles.
• Completion of a PHTLS Course (Pre‑Hospital Trauma Life Support).

• Licensed in the state of practice as an EMT/Paramedic.
• Registered with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT/Paramedic.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Current driver's license, Class E, in the state of practice.
• Completion of Defensive Driving Course within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of Haz‑Mat Awareness Training.

• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with, maintain, and safeguard confidential information.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to adapt to change in a positive manner.
