DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer main telephone line in the department.
- Provide excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax, or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.
- Appropriately and accurately verify and process medical records for patient care, quality review and audits in a timely manner.
- Distribute and retrieve charts from doctor’s deficiency area.
- Handle confidential and extremely time sensitive materials. Ensure adherence to business guidelines, safety and security procedures.
- Coordinate release of medical records to insurance companies, lawyers, and state and federal agencies.
- Process subpoenas and court orders as directed.
- Verify authorizations in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and state and federal laws.
- Ensure that all requests for records are logged appropriately in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system with received date, sent date, and requestor name, address, and telephone number.
- Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
- Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
- Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
- Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
- Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
- Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or similar certification required
Education and/or Experience
- One year certificate from college or technical school;
- Three to six months related experience and/or training preferred

- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers, patients, families and employees of the organization.
