Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Supervisor to join our leadership team and support our mission of maintaining a safe, secure, and rehabilitative environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead essential HR functions in a dynamic correctional setting, guiding staff through policies, performance, and professional development while ensuring compliance with state and departmental standards.

Experience and Education Requirements
- Six years of human resources experience; OR six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR a bachelor’s degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR an advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience.
- EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution is 120 semester hours (equivalent to four years). SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR may substitute for up to one year of required experience.

Job Duties
- Directly supervises two Human Resources Analysts, one Administrative Coordinator 4, and three Security Timekeepers responsible for employee administration and payroll functions.
- Oversees the preparation, accuracy, and timely entry of all personnel transactions (probational and job appointments, WAE appointments, transfers, promotions, demotions, details, pay adjustments, permanent status, reassignments, and shift changes).
- Ensures accurate calculation and maintenance of contract data, permanent status dates, adjusted service dates, and adjusted leave service dates.
- Verifies proper authorization and application of Civil Service pay rules.
- Ensures all taxes, deductions, and term pay are processed correctly and resolves LaGov system issues as needed.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to permanent promotion.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as temporary, conversion to a probational appointment may occur if a permanent position becomes available.
Compensation
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $29.79 per hour.
