HR Generalist – Manufacturing Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support a dynamic manufacturing operation by partnering with leadership and employees across all areas of Human Resources. This role will be responsible for employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, training, and HRIS administration while helping foster a positive workplace culture.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys building relationships on the production floor, and has a strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted HR partner for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for hourly and salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Administer employee benefits, leave of absence programs, and workers' compensation claims.
  • Support performance management, employee development, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and assist with conflict resolution while ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HR records, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with payroll administration by processing employee changes and ensuring accurate HRIS data.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and company events.
  • Support compliance with OSHA regulations, safety initiatives, and required HR training programs.
  • Prepare HR reports, analyze workforce metrics, and recommend process improvements.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Assist with policy development and continuous improvement of HR processes.
  • Participate in audits and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and other HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting both hourly manufacturing employees and salaried staff.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; payroll experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.
Preferred Experience
  • Manufacturing, industrial, automotive, food & beverage, chemical, or heavy industry experience.
  • Experience supporting multi-shift operations.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and benefits administration.
  • Experience with employee engagement and retention initiatives.
