Description
A-1 Electrical Contractors, Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist to manage employment compliance, benefits administration, and workplace culture initiatives for our field and office workforce, under the direction of the Director of Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance &
Risk Management:
Manage I-9, employment eligibility, and E-Verify documentation; own the company's compliance posture under EEOC, FCRA, FLSA, and Louisiana-specific requirements; administer FMLA, ADA, and other leave-of-absence programs; manage unemployment claims; maintain the employee handbook and HR policies; and lead or support workplace investigations alongside the Director of HR.

Benefits Administration: Own day-to-day benefits administration, including enrollment, life-event changes, vendor coordination, and employee questions; serve as the go-to resource for employees navigating health, retirement, and ancillary benefits; and partner with the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator on open enrollment, renewals, and carrier relationships.

Workplace Culture: Own the 30/60/90-day onboarding review for every new hire; champion initiatives that build retention and morale; coordinate training and development programs, including required compliance training; support the performance review cycle; and conduct exit interviews and report on turnover trends.

HR Operations & Records: Maintain personnel files and HRIS data integrity; process HR-related paperwork for status changes, promotions, transfers, and separations; generate routine and ad hoc HR reports for leadership; and serve as a resource for managers on HR policy interpretation and day-to-day employee-relations questions.
? Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
? 4+ years as an HR generalist, with meaningful depth in benefits administration and employment compliance.
? Working knowledge of EEOC, FCRA, FLSA, and Louisiana employment law basics.
? Hands-on experience administering group benefits plans and working with carriers/vendors.
? Experience administering leave-of-absence programs (FMLA, ADA) and unemployment claims.
? Experience with HRIS platforms and maintaining accurate personnel records.
? Strong written documentation skills; you will write investigation summaries and benefits communications that may be read by counsel if a matter escalates.
? Must comply with a criminal background check.

Preferred: Construction, trades, or blue-collar industry experience; bilingual English/Spanish; SHRM-CP or PHR certification; and a track record of building or strengthening workplace culture in an operations-heavy environment.
POSITION AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
? Primarily office-based, with occasional local travel for compliance matters, benefits enrollment events, or off-site meetings.
? Regularly requires sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods.
? Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information at all times.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
? Negotiable based upon experience, with health insurance and ancillary benefits, paid holidays, PTO, and 401k matching.
