Data Engineer
The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring a Deputy Data Director for our Coordinated Campaign. The Deputy Data Director will support the statewide data program. Responsibilities will generally include:
- Work with Senior Data Director to identify data needs across the state
- Build data pipelines and integrations between tools and platforms
- Design and develop reports and tools for other teams on the Coordinated Campaign in line with key programmatic priorities, particularly the organizing and digital teams
- Build target universes for the purpose of voter contact
- Maintain and respond to a ticketing system for data support requests and flags
- Support other members of the data team to complete projects as necessary
Qualifications
- Advanced Google Sheets Skills
- Proficient in SQL
- Experience with Vote builder (VAN)
- Comfortable programming in Python, R, or similar languages
- Experience creating visualizations and dashboards using Looker Studio, Tableau, and/or Power BI
- Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational and strategic thinking skills
This position is full‑time and lasts through November 2026. Applicants must have a reliable laptop, cell phone, and vehicle. Applicants must also be comfortable working irregular hours including nights and weekends.
