Data Analyst, Data Science Manager
Location: New Orleans
Responsibilities
Highly responsible technical and supervisory work of a specialized nature coordinating, directing, implementing, and managing the City’s Internet-based strategies and initiatives for web applications, services, and software.
- Managing data projects, requests and work orders and assigning work.
- Ensuring staff are trained and properly equipped with software and tools.
- Speaking to customers to understand problems and anticipate needs.
- Advocating for and assisting departments in opening their data.
- Performing data inventories with departments and writing annual data reports.
- Maintaining and administering data driven.nola.gov and data.nola.gov.
- Administering the Power BI Report Server.
- Training staff and the public in how to get and leverage open data using Power BI and Socrata.
- Procuring a suite of data software and applications annually.
Either the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), statistics, engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, data visualization or GIS with experience using Python, R, JavaScript, and SQL, as well as tools such as Microsoft Power
BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc. - Nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, data visualization or GIS with experience using Python, R, JavaScript, and SQL, as well as tools such as Power
BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc., with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.

This position requires a one-year probationary period. A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%, is used for qualification purposes; related experience gained within the last ten (10) years will be considered.
