The Louisiana Supreme Court Judicial Administrator's Office is seeking a motivated, self‑starting Part‑Time Student Worker to join the Court Information Technology Division. This position offers hands‑on experience providing first‑level technical support for computer hardware, Microsoft Office applications, and other technology needs across various court departments while assisting with general IT and administrative functions under the direction of the Director of IT Services.
Candidates must be full‑time students at an accredited college or university (minimum 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credit hours) and be available to work 15–30 hours per week during the academic year, with the opportunity for additional hours during school breaks. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Supporting PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software (Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, Word Perfect Office X8, etc.).
- Monitoring help desk support requests.
- Providing end‑user support at various levels of technical and non‑technical staff.
- Assisting the local IT staff with a variety of projects.
- Awareness of PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software, and some network troubleshooting.
- Awareness of the PC industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer‑based information systems and technology.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, research technical documentation, and apply various technical resources.
- Ability to perform tasks such as installing and upgrading operating systems and application software, and handling virus protection and eradication.
- Effective interaction with management, staff and other court personnel; able to work independently and/or as part of a team.
You should have a passion for both technology and business and pursue an IT‑related undergraduate or graduate degree.
Education & Experience- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Full‑time student (12 hours) at a local college or university.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Windows 11.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong work ethic, organization skills, desire to learn, and openness to asking questions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Most duties performed in usual office conditions with standard office equipment, computer, copier, printer, fax, and phone.
- Use of computer terminal requiring frequent mental and visual attention; able to lift or carry approximately 50 lbs of servers or power supply.
- Gain valuable work experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic IT department common to small to medium‑size businesses.
- Exposure to determine if IT is the right profession for the candidate.
