Job Summary
To provide specialist advice & support in the development and implementation of data modelling addressing problems on systems integration, compatibility and multi platforms.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and optimise Power BI dashboards and data models that transform banking data into actionable insights.
- Build efficient semantic models (star schema, optimised relationships, reusable measures) and write advanced DAX measures for complex analytical logic.
- Optimise report performance through model design, query efficiency and refresh cycles.
- Implement row‑level security and enforce access controls.
- Connect to enterprise data sources using SQL/ODBC, leverage curated datasets and perform light data transformation with Power Query.
- Deliver standardised and ad‑hoc reporting to support performance tracking and decision‑making.
- Translate business requirements into scalable dashboards, intuitive visualisations and automate reporting.
- Ensure consistency of KPIs, definitions, and governance within reporting outputs.
- Identify and raise data quality issues and resolve data discrepancies at the reporting layer.
- Act as Power BI SME, support users and drive self‑service analytics adoption.
- Engage stakeholders to refine requirements and continuously improve dashboards.
- Explore AI‑enabled analytics (Copilot, natural language queries, business chat dashboards) to enhance insight generation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 3+ years experience in BI/Power BI development (experience in banking or financial services preferred).
- Strong expertise in Power BI (data modelling, reporting, publishing), DAX (advanced calculations and optimisation), SQL (querying, joins, aggregations) and data connectivity (ODBC, enterprise platforms).
- Good understanding of banking data domains (customers, accounts, transactions).
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, problem‑solving capability and ability to translate complex data into clear business‑focused insights.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Interest in leveraging AI to enhance reporting and analytics.
- Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC):
Physical, Mathematical, Computer and Life Sciences (required).
