The position is a part of the Digital Transformation and Technology team of Absa Bank (Mauritius) Limited. The incumbent would report to the Head of Digital Transformation and will be responsible for end‑to‑end user experience design, including discovery, ideation, conception, detailed design, prototypes and validation across multiple digital products and tools.

• Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows, sitemaps and wireframes.
• Gather and evaluate requirements in collaboration with business analysts and project managers.
• Apply design thinking principles to create world‑class digital customer experience including primary & secondary research, global benchmarking, empathy mapping of user personas, and information hierarchy.
• Prepare storyboards and low‑fidelity mock‑ups, wireframes or pencil sketches; define end‑to‑end user process flows.
• Create UI mockups and prototypes in Figma, Adobe XD or other design software, illustrating app/site function and look across web & mobile journeys.
• Design detailed UI/UX journeys with edge cases, empty, partial and filled user states.
• Conduct usability testing and design visual materials such as campaign artworks, posters, social media graphics, logos, brochures, flyers, digital content for web & app, emailers, animations, and internal communication graphics.
• Create short animation videos and support high‑quality photos for marketing and promotional activities.
• Work within Absa brand guidelines to reinforce brand style and voice through visual touchpoints, test UI elements (banners, CTAs, page layouts, landing pages), and design email/SMS content in line with brand standards.
• Assist programmers and suppliers during system development by providing use cases, user stories, flowcharts and design specifications.
• Co‑ordinate with project teams and suppliers, ensuring resources are productive and requirements are met on time.
• Evaluate alternative solutions to business problems, justify selections and provide UI design specifications to development teams.
• Demonstrate application functionality, solicit feedback and ensure project requirements are met.
• Monitor, maintain and refresh existing digital assets; ensure website and app content is up to date.
• Collaborate with marketing to keep digital content current and monitor success metrics for usability, web and mobile usage analytics, design impact, and regression testing.
• Keep up to date with the latest design trends, software tools and techniques.
• Work with stakeholders to achieve excellent business results, manage objections, and align strategic direction with customer demands and industry standards.
• Champion cultural change and facilitate a customer‑obsession culture across teams.
• Deliver effective customer experience in Digital Channels, enable customer acquisition, retention and cross‑selling.
• Provide insights, key learnings and digital behavioral trends to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, risk management frameworks and internal policies; communicate with compliance, legal, risk and IT stakeholders for clearances.
• Ensure bug‑free release to production environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in design, computer science or a related field.
• Proven work experience as a UI/UX designer or a similar role.
• Portfolio of UI/UX design work for mobile and web platforms.
• Portfolio of creative artworks for digital platforms.
• Passionate and committed to overcoming internal barriers to disruptive innovation.
• Good knowledge of Sketch, InVision, HTML, Visio, iOS, Android, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma etc. (Advanced).
• Strong decision‑making skills, initiative, confidence and ability to work independently.
• Advanced knowledge of emerging UX technologies such as Flutter or other creative tools (good to have).
