Position: IS Security Architect
Location: New Orleans

This job guides the technical direction of information security applications and solutions, ensuring alignment with the business strategy. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing solutions to business problems, evaluating emerging technologies, and analyzing complex business issues to discern their impact on systems implementation and support.

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Work Experience

Required – 10 years of related information technology security experience in a regulated industry.

Certifications

Preferred – SANS GIAC, ISC2 CISSP, or other advanced security certifications.

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs)
  • Effective verbal, written, and diagrammatic communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, peers and leadership to develop solutions and secure stakeholder support.
  • Technical knowledge of the IT infrastructure, managing the security infrastructure and associated regulations and frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret business, technology and threat drivers, and develop practical security roadmaps.
  • Technical knowledge of systems development life-cycle (SDLC) with a solid understanding of implementation challenges from concept through operational support.
  • Working knowledge of SOA integration, integration lifecycle, and enterprise integration services, and ability to understand the technological impact on clinical operations including risk management, change management, configuration management, business continuity, safety and analytics.
  • Project management skills and ability to plan and lead medium to large, complex HIT projects.
  • Excellent time management, presentation, and organization skills and ability to take initiative and remain accountable for achieving results.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Job Duties
  • Develop and maintain a security architecture process that enables the enterprise to implement security solutions aligned with business, technology and threat drivers.
  • Track developments and changes in the digital business and threat environment to ensure they’re adequately addressed in security strategy plans.
  • Participate in application and infrastructure projects to provide security‑planning advice.
  • Determine baseline security configuration standards for operating systems, network segmentation, and identity and access management.
  • Validate IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risks.
  • Validate security configurations and access to security infrastructure tools, including firewalls, IPS, WAF and anti‑malware/endpoint protection systems.
  • Review network segmentation to ensure least privilege for network access.
  • Liaise with the internal audit team to review and evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of security‑related controls.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
