responsibilities
responsible technical and administrative work involving entry-level to journey-level geographic information systems (gis) support functions. Tasks include spatial data maintenance, asset record management, mapping, gis data processing, maintaining and updating geospatial databases, interpreting engineering and infrastructure records, supporting field data collection efforts, performing quality assurance reviews, and providing technical support for gis-related projects. Employees in this class regularly contact departmental personnel and gis users to exchange information, resolve routine issues, coordinate work activities, and support the maintenance of accurate and reliable gis data.
qualifications- bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems (gis), computer science, computer information systems (cis), geography, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- associate’s degree in geographic information systems (gis), computer science, computer information systems (cis), geography, or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the support, design and/or implementation of gis database mapping systems.
- high school diploma or ged and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the support, design and/or implementation of gis database mapping systems.
- esri technical certification or esri professional certification may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and certification claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. if selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
