Job Summary
National Guard IT Specialist (Systems Administration), Position Description Number D2489P01, part of G6 Nebraska Army National Guard.
Location & PayLincoln, NE. Salary: $68,545 - $97,867 per year. Pay grade: GS 9-11.
Duties- Manage all assigned servers and server resources, including capacity monitoring, performance analysis, problem diagnosis, backup and recovery procedures, installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems and layered software packages.
- Conduct hardware and software audits, maintain system configurations, and ensure compliance with Army and DOD standards.
- Monitor server performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability, and implement security procedures and tools.
- Resolve inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies; provide technical assistance and training to users.
- Analyze and resolve system malfunctions, adjust equipment configurations, recommend acquisitions, and troubleshoot hardware/software interface issues.
- Maintain liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state‑of‑the‑art technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Mandatory membership in the Nebraska National Guard.
- Male applicants born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
- May be required to complete a probationary period.
- Direct deposit mandatory.
- National Guard membership required (Title 32 excepted service). Candidates must be eligible for immediate membership.
- Maximum military grade E9/CW5/O3; minimum E4/WO1/O1. Compatible military grade and assignment required before the effective date of appointment.
- At least 1 year of experience at the previous lower grade or equivalent in general and specialized experience categories (GS‑09: logic translation, GS‑11: analysis of system components, scheduling of programs, efficiency planning).
- Education:
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or equivalent coursework providing at least 24 semester hours in relevant fields.
