Employment Type: Contingent Worker
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Location: In‑Office or Remote (US). Five days per week available in Albany (NY), Chicago (IL), Los Angeles (CA), New York City (NY), Omaha (NE), or Richmond (VA) for temp‑to‑hire assignments.
Summary: We seek a highly capable Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster for a temporary assignment, ending 9 October 2026. The role adjudicates indemnity workers' compensation claims of higher technical complexity in AL, NC, and SC (licenses required).
Employees must accurately record hours, submit timesheets, and may be assigned overtime as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities- Adjudicate workers' compensation claims of higher technical complexity under technical direction.
- Resolve generalized issues that require understanding of a broader set of issues.
- Report claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters.
- Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
- Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine coverage.
- Manage claims in litigation.
- Ensure timely diary management and task completion for optimal financial outcomes.
- Set claim reserves properly.
- Coordinate assignment of expert resources to assist in resolution.
- Prepare reports for file documentation.
- Apply creative solutions to achieve best financial outcomes.
- Negotiate settlements.
- Communicate via telephone and written correspondence with insured, claimant, and others.
- Demonstrate passion for strong claim management.
- Minimum of five years adjudicating workers' compensation claims in AL, NC, or SC, and a practical knowledge of the jurisdictions.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or alternative of two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience.
- License required at the start of assignment in at least two of AL, NC, or SC.
- Good business acumen and ability to articulate financial impact.

Compensation is based on geographic location. Pay ranges by region are listed below:
- Colorado outside Denver metro, Delaware, Illinois (outside Chicago metro), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts (outside Boston metro), Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia: $37.66 – $44.33 per hour
- Boston metro area, California outside Los Angeles & San Francisco metro areas, Connecticut, Chicago metro area, Denver metro area, New Jersey (outside NYC metro), New York State (outside NYC metro), Washington, D.C. metro area, and Washington State: $41.44 – $48.79 per hour
- New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco metro areas: $45.11 – $53.16 per hour
In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
