This position is eligible to work a hybrid (3 days in office per week) schedule from the Des Moines metro
Essential Functions:- Paid internship working in EMC’s corporate actuarial team
- Collaborates with Actuarial Operations/Predictive Analytics team on projects
- Performs basic analysis for Actuarial Operations/Predictive Analytics teams
- Gathers information for analysis
- Organizes data into spreadsheets and databases
- Communicates results of analysis, project updates, and key findings to actuarial leaders
- Develops understanding of insurance operations, statistical analysis, data management and computer programming
- Actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related major
- Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Knowledge of statistics and probability
- Strong analytical, investigation, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Power BI preferred
- Familiarity with R, SAS, SQL &/or Python preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Depending on business needs and individual performance, interns may have the opportunity to continue working with EMC in a part-time capacity following the internship.
