Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn, LLP is a New Orleans-based litigation firm with nearly five decades of experience representing insurers, sureties, contractors, subcontractors, vessel owners, marine operators, transporters, businesses, and individuals in complex litigation and contract matters across Louisiana and beyond. Our attorneys handle high-stakes matters in state and federal court, including construction defect litigation, maritime and admiralty law, insurance defense, and major casualty claims.
We are a growing firm with an expanding regional presence and a collegial, team-oriented culture.
We are hiring associates to join our litigation team. We are actively seeking candidates with experience in construction and surety law, maritime and admiralty law, or both. If your background touches either of these areas — or general casualty defense — we want to hear from you.
Practice AreasOur construction and surety practice handles the full spectrum of disputes arising from commercial and public projects, including contract disputes, delay and inefficiency claims, payment disputes, Miller Act and Little Miller Act bond claims, and construction defect litigation. Our maritime practice focuses on Jones Act seaman injury claims, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) matters, vessel allisions, and waterfront property damage.
Both groups also handle a broad range of general casualty and commercial litigation across state and federal courts in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
You will take an active role across all phases of litigation — drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery; taking and defending depositions; coordinating experts; preparing for and attending mediations, hearings, and trials; and communicating directly with clients and insurance carriers. This is a substantive role with real responsibility and direct access to senior partners from day one.
What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate has at least three years of civil litigation experience and a genuine interest in complex, high-stakes disputes. Whether the background is in construction and surety, maritime and admiralty, or general casualty defense, strong instincts, sharp writing, and the drive to develop into a first-chair litigator are what set the right candidate apart. Trial experience or first-chair exposure, even if limited, is a plus.
Louisiana bar admission is required;
Texas or Mississippi admission is a plus.
- Competitive salary and merit-based bonuses
