Overview

Position Title: Buyer. A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to manage assigned product categories, maintain healthy inventory levels, and ensure products are available to meet customer demand. This role will support supplier relationships, purchasing operations, product launches, promotional programs, and inventory performance while collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance. The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical purchasing professional who communicates proactively, manages competing priorities, and uses data to make sound inventory decisions.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 / DOE plus up to $8,000 in annual bonus potential

• Monitor inventory levels and purchase products based on customer demand, service expectations, and business needs
• Analyze sales, margins, inventory turns, profitability, and service levels for assigned product categories
• Communicate supply disruptions, product shortages, inventory concerns, and order updates to internal stakeholders
• Identify slow-moving, excess, discontinued, and dead stock, and support corrective action plans
• Optimize inventory investments while maintaining product availability and customer service levels
• Communicate with supplier representatives regarding pricing, product availability, promotions, incentives, and order status
• Build positive supplier relationships that support company objectives and purchasing performance
• Assist with resolving supplier issues, delivery delays, pricing discrepancies, and product concerns
• Support supplier rebate programs, payment targets, and promotional agreements
• Coordinate new product setup and ensure product information is accurate across company systems
• Support product launches, promotional programs, marketing campaigns, and category initiatives
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other departments to support organizational goals
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and daily communications
• Use purchasing data, inventory reports, and performance metrics to support informed decision-making
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve purchasing processes, and strengthen operational efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Approximately 2–3 years of experience in purchasing, buying, inventory management, supply chain, wholesale distribution, grocery, convenience stores, or retail
• Strong understanding of inventory management, product performance, purchasing operations, and supplier relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, and Microsoft Word
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze inventory, financial, and category performance data
• Strong organizational, relationship-building, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Proactive approach to identifying concerns, communicating issues, and implementing solutions
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to maintain clear stakeholder expectations when managing circumstances outside the company’s control
• Willingness to work onsite five days per week in Elmwood, Louisiana

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, purchasing, or a related field
• Experience purchasing products for convenience stores, grocery stores, department stores, or another wholesale environment
• Experience working with K3 or similar wholesale purchasing software
• Experience managing product assortments, supplier programs, rebates, and promotional initiatives

• Annual bonus potential of up to $8,000 based on individual and company performance
