The Trade Compliance & Warehouse Specialist supports U.S. customs compliance, import/export coordination, warehouse and workshop zoning, inventory control, parts fulfillment, vendor onboarding, warehouse equipment maintenance, vendor coordination, invoice coding, and logistics execution for Kongsberg Maritime. This role serves as a local subject-matter expert for CBP/ACE-related processes, HTS/HTSUS classification support, tariffs, sanctions awareness, Temporary Importation under Bond (TIB), broker/freight forwarder coordination, vendor and business partner audits, and audit-ready shipment documentation.

The candidate must be hands-on in an active warehouse environment, capable of supporting order fulfillment, and required to participate in the warehouse on-call duty rotation to support urgent customer, service, shipment, or operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support U.S. import/export compliance, including CBP/ACE coordination, HTS/HTSUS classification support, country of origin, ECCN/export classification support, customs valuation inputs, tariff/duty tracking, sanctions awareness, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor tariff and sanctions changes issued by U.S. government agencies/administration; support TIB workflows, qualification review, documentation accuracy, entry tracking, export/destruction follow-up, and retention of audit-ready records.
  • Maintain organized warehouse/workshop zones for receiving quarantine/hold, customer-owned property, TIB/bonded-status items, restricted/export-controlled items, returns, repairs, scrap, stock, and outbound staging.
  • Support receiving, inspection, put-away, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, min/max review, order fulfillment, sale of parts, technician material requests, parts staging, packing, and shipment readiness.
  • Coordinate inbound/outbound shipments with brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, product centers, service teams, customers, and internal stakeholders; select appropriate freight methods within cost, service, and compliance guidelines.
  • Coordinate approved service vendors for warehouse equipment maintenance, repair, inspection, and support services, including forklifts, racking, material-handling equipment, dock equipment, scales, and other operational assets.
  • Review, validate, code, and route freight, broker, and U.S. Customs duty invoices; reconcile tariffs, duties, brokerage fees, freight charges, landed-cost elements, and discrepancies with brokers, finance, procurement, and internal stakeholders.
  • Use ERP/inventory, procurement, ACE/related customs data, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and reporting tools to maintain records, support audits, prepare updates, train users, and improve local customs, warehouse, shipment, vendor, and invoice workflows.
  • Participate in the warehouse on-call duty rotation, including urgent response periods as assigned, to support critical customer commitments, service needs, shipment issues, equipment readiness, and operational continuity.
Authority
  • Place stock orders with product centers, intercompany sources, and approved vendors in accordance with the applicable company authority matrix.
  • Recommend and maintain warehouse min/max inventory levels, storage controls, zoning practices, inventory accuracy actions, and logistics process improvements.
  • Select freight methods within established business, cost, service, customer, and compliance guidelines.
  • Require correct or additional shipment, customs, vendor, broker, invoice, or internal documentation before shipment release, invoice approval, or entry closure when information is incomplete or inconsistent.
  • Escalate, hold, or pause shipments or warehouse movement when tariff, sanctions, export control, TIB, safety, customer-owned property, equipment readiness, or documentation concerns require review.
  • Request vendor setup or vendor updates through approved procurement/finance processes and recommend qualified vendors for logistics, customs, freight, warehouse, and equipment maintenance support.
