The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety leader with 7+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Proven track record of safety success, continuous improvement and cross departmental collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and continuously improve a proactive, rewards-based safety culture across production operations
- Conduct routine safety walks with plant and management teams to identify, evaluate, and correct hazards
- Investigate injuries, accidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Clearly communicate incident findings, expectations, and safety improvements to all employees
- Develop, deliver, and maintain required safety training programs in compliance with regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate safety, environmental, and feed compliance records; ensure timely regulatory reporting
- Manage and oversee dust, noise, drug testing, and other compliance-related testing programs
- Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, IDNR, and applicable food/feed safety regulations
- Support equipment safety initiatives including guarding, lockout/tagout, and safe operating procedures
- Partner with HR on workers’ compensation claims, modified duty programs, and injury reduction efforts
- Serve as site-level safety contact for onboarding, employee concerns, and regulatory interactions
- Maintain all Right-to-Know and hazard communication programs
- Support multi-site consistency and future safety program expansion as operations grow
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred
- Minimum 5–10 years of safety experience in manufacturing, mining, or industrial production environments
- Strong working knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations
- Proven experience working directly with regulatory agencies and inspectors
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of industrial equipment and safety systems
- Strong organizational, documentation, and compliance management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence frontline employees and leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA safety certification;
Forklift (OSHA-approved) certification - CSP, CIH, or equivalent professional safety certification
- Experience supporting multi-site operations
