Position Overview

HGM Associates is seeking a Senior Architect / Project Manager to lead and manage facility projects for public and private clients in Nebraska and Iowa.

This is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced architect seeking to expand beyond project delivery into team leadership, client development, and long‑term firm growth
. The role offers the ability to work directly with firm leadership while helping shape the direction of HGM’s consulting services.

In this role, you will serve as the project manager, overseeing project delivery, client coordination, and project planning, including scope, schedule, and budget development. You will also play a key role in mentoring staff, supporting business development efforts, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the project manager for architectural design and construction administration for projects, ensuring successful project delivery
  • Lead project planning efforts, including development of scope, schedule, and budget
  • Support and participate in business development efforts, including client relationship management, proposal development, and identification of new opportunities
  • Contribute to the growth and development of HGM’s architectural services
  • Work directly with clients to define project requirements, develop design criteria, and establish project priorities
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates
  • Manage multiple projects at varying stages of design and construction
  • Prepare and review plans, specifications, and construction documents, and oversee design quality
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders throughout all project phases
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
  • Provide construction administration services, including reviewing submittals, responding to contractor questions, and evaluating change orders
Required Qualifications
  • Professional license – Registered Architect
  • 10+ years of experience in project planning, detailing and construction administration
  • 2+ years of project management and business development
  • Experience with municipal, institutional and commercial facility planning through construction projects
  • Strong understanding of building design standards, codes, and regulations
  • Experience managing architectural design projects and coordinating project teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
  • Experience or interest in business development and client growth
