Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, this position is responsible for the oversight of recruitment territory management, application reading and decisions through admissions CRM/SLATE, admissions marketing, on‑campus admissions activity and admissions staff development & training. The AVP will also represent the University and its programs to prospective students, their families, high school leaders, guidance counselors, and teachers through on and off campus visits, phone calling and special events that lead to successful recruitment of Loyola students within strategic geographic territories.
The AVP is a member of the Enrollment Management Leadership team, participates in the development and implementation of the strategic recruitment and enrollment plans, and serves on behalf of the Vice President in their absence.
- Manages the admissions recruitment team (territory managers consisting of Associate Director, Assistant Directors, Admissions Counselors, and Admissions Fellows).
- In coordination with the VP of Enrollment Management, manages the design, implementation and evaluation of an annual undergraduate recruitment plan and an annual summary report of recruitment activities; assists in developing methods and strategies by which to set goals, milestones and timelines to achieve enrollment goals.
- Works with the Enrollment Leadership Team to develop and foster a spirit of cooperation among all staff members to accomplish common goals. Coordinates the training of new staff and professional development of current staff. Develops bi‑annual planning retreats for the admissions staff.
- Manages the application reading and review process. Conducts or assigns second‑round application reviews and/or approves decision recommendations. Serves as a key member of the Admissions Committee, the Admissions Disciplinary Committee, and works closely with the Admissions Athletic Liaison regarding admissions decisions.
- Management of a specified recruitment territory with focused counseling, recruitment, and admission of students to the University.
- Oversight of the Coordinator of Campus Visits in the hosting of student events and visits to the campus, including presenting to campus visitors as needed and serving as a member of the Admissions Visit Committee.
- Oversight of the Sr. Associate Director of Marketing and Communication to ensure a compelling, integrated communications plan to engage and inform prospective students about the value, opportunities, and distinctiveness of LOYNO.
- Develop, review and modify as appropriate the selection policies and procedures for first‑year and transfer selection in conjunctions with the Vice‑President of Enrollment Management.
- Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid on allocation of recruitment scholarships.
- Assist with coordinating strategies with colleges and other divisions for involvement in efforts to recruit, conduct events, build educational partnerships, implement initiatives and other recruitment efforts for undergraduate admission.
- Develop and monitor data related to enrollment forecasting and trend analysis to use in decision‑making.
- Represents the institution; serve on university committees.
- Manage the office budget and use resources effectively.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information in a business‑like manner.
- Projecting and maintaining a positive, professional image of the college when meeting or talking with students or other outside contacts.
- Assisting others, as necessary, in keeping work current, meeting deadlines, or spreading workloads equitably.
- Willingness to travel, as needed, often working beyond the normal 8:30am‑5:00pm day and Monday to Friday week.
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence within institutional and divisional policies, procedures and performance guidelines.
- Master’s degree required of an equivalency of knowledge and skills.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in admissions, enrollment management, or secondary‑school counseling.
