Summary

Material Planners at The Shaw Group are responsible for the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process, ensuring that materials are available to support the production schedule for the project.

Responsibilities
  • Manage material requirements planning (MRP) process.
  • Facilitate material discrepancy resolution on projects.
  • Determine required materials and generate purchase requisitions.
  • Identify material substitution opportunities and submit the approvals.
  • Ensure all materials meet project specifications, quality standards, and are cost-effective.
  • Manage inventory issues, schedule changes, and order cancellations.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPI) to facilitate material orders and project deliverables for the production site.
  • Coordinate with engineering, site materials, and project management teams regarding production goals, schedule, and project priorities.
  • Communicate proactively with internal project teams and cross-functional supply chain stakeholders while spearheading issue resolution.
  • Material take-off and identification of project required bill of materials (BOM) with associated change management tracking throughout the life of the project.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma / GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, construction management, business, logistics, inventory management, or related field required. Degree preferred; however, an equivalent amount of relevant professional experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
  • 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, supply chain/purchasing, or related is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Knowledge of industrial piping isometric drawings and manufacturing process is preferred.
