Overview

General Production team members at Smithfield Foods play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting coworkers.

• Work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for consumers.
• Perform production tasks that may be physically demanding and require good hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Work scheduled shifts and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands.
• Contribute to a positive work environment, maintain a safe and efficient production line, and ensure products reach families across America.
• Follow all safety, health, and quality procedures.

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform continuous/repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing and extending arms.
• Stamina to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift.
• Williness to work in environments with animal blood, carcass parts, cold or hot temperatures, wet and humid conditions, noise, chemicals and strong odors.
• Ability to wear hard hat, hearing/eye protection, steel‑toed safety shoes and other PPE.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, steps, walkways and platforms, and to bend, stoop, twist, bend repeatedly and walk long distances.
• May be required to lift up to 30lbs overhead, 60lbs single lift or use mechanical assistance.
• Possibly need certification to operate equipment.

Work is physically demanding, may involve repetitive overhead lifting, and use of some or all body parts. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
