Production Manager, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
Our Dodson, LA lumber mill is seeking a Supervisor Trainee for the Dry End of our site, including the Kiln, Planer and Shipping Departments. The is a full-time hourly position that pays $29.10 per hour. This role works with production and site leadership to add to the front-line leader pipeline.
This individual is responsible for participating in classroom, on the job training & other developmental activities to learn the technical aspects of the manufacturing process, develop leadership and teambuilding skills, and prepare to compete and assume full-time shift production supervision positions as opportunities occur. This individual will train on various shifts and teams in a 24/7 operating environment and therefore must be willing to work any shift, including weekends and/or holidays, to be considered for this opportunity.

- Understand the manufacturing process flow and provide solutions to issues.
- Own and/or contribute to other mill functions, such as safety, environmental, or LEAN initiatives
- Provide coverage for production shift supervisors during vacations and other absences.
- Responsible for supporting production leadership to provide management and oversight of hourly production employees in a wood products manufacturing facility.
- Work with shift supervisors to assign work, evaluate job performance and set performance expectations for team members.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Satisfactorily completed probationary period and in good standing regarding discipline and attendance
- Actively engages in site safety program
- Demonstrates the capacity and desire to move into leadership role
- Strong leadership skills that include a proven ability to coach employees to a higher level of performance.
- Excellent people skills with a result-oriented focus required.
- Good planning, organizational skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Must be willing to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical ability to work in extreme temperatures and be ambulatory for the majority of an assigned 12-hour shift.
- Ability to learn and comprehend entire manufacturing process with desire for upward mobility.
