New Orleans, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an Assistant Shop Foreman/Operational Excellence (OpEx) Coordinator to drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of operational excellence by improving processes, engaging employees, and leveraging data‑driven decision‑making to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall business performance. This is a full‑time position paying $27.00–$32.00 per hour and is intended to transition into the retiring Fabrication Shop Foreman role within 6–12 months.
EssentialDuties
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
- Analyze workflows and identify opportunities to eliminate waste, improve productivity, and reduce process variation.
- Develop, track, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and improvement efforts.
- Engage employees at all levels to promote a culture of continuous improvement and problem‑solving.
- Facilitate process improvement meetings, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
- Collaborate with production, fabrication, and management teams to optimize daily operations.
- Utilize data and digital tools to support informed business decisions and measure progress.
- Assist with standardizing work procedures and documenting best practices.
- Prepare for succession into the Fabrication Shop Foreman position by learning shop operations, leadership responsibilities, scheduling, and production oversight.
- Support safety, quality, and productivity initiatives while maintaining company standards.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Ability to interpret KPIs and operational metrics to drive improvements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence employees at all organizational levels.
- Manufacturing or fabrication environment experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to train for advancement into a Fabrication Shop Foreman leadership role within 6–12 months.
- Ability to walk production and fabrication areas for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, and perform visual inspections throughout the facility.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
