Description
The Lockheed Martin Space Production Operations Team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support production at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. The role will require you to be organized with excellent attention to detail and a self‑starting approach to work activities.
Responsibilities- Write, maintain, and redline process/work instructions for the manufacture of structures, fabrication of composites, and application of thermal protection systems.
- Work with the production team daily to ensure manufacturing processes are appropriate and any obstacles are removed.
- Collaborate with planning team and production leadership to ensure schedule and priority alignment.
- Support quality engineering in root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for process‑related defects and ensure follow‑on direction is properly documented in work instructions.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college/university, or equivalent combined education/experience.
- Previous experience with manufacturing engineering technology, mechanical assembly, or integration.
- Experience creating and/or utilizing manufacturing work instructions or standard operating procedures.
- Experience reading engineering drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- U.S. citizen.
- Knowledge of creating, editing, and maintaining manufacturing bills of material and manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin Space or equivalent industry tools such as ERP/SAP, EPDM, VE‑CAMS, and PMP Database.
- Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing techniques, work measurements, and labor standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
