The facility is located in Britt, Iowa, a community where egg production is a major industry.

Responsibilities

Position Summary: The Tanker Bay Person is responsible for transferring all edible liquid egg that meets USDA and company specifications for final distribution. They monitor and document all tanks and tanker vessels, ensuring cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with company and USDA standards.

Edible Tanker Bay Person
  • Coordinate with USDA on tanker cleaning and transfer of liquid egg for shipment.
  • Check tanker paperwork.
  • Document on the Tanker Receiving Log: date of receipt, product, raw or pasteurized status, USDA certificate number, receiver, receiving company, and total pounds.
  • Inspect physical condition of incoming tanker for cleanliness, temperature, and odor and take corrective action as needed.
  • Take a sample for lab testing.
  • Control flow of egg via computer panel, flow boards, and piping in old and new silo areas.
  • Set up transfers, hook a sanitized unloading hose to the tanker's tail end and unload to appropriate silo or tank.
  • Ensure empty tanks and tankers are cleaned by the Clean in Place (CIP) system.
  • Communicate with the Cooked Department about edible egg transfers.
  • Mix liquid egg product with ingredients.
  • Assist in coordinating tanker shipments.
  • Control bulk receiving of chemicals.
  • Maintain general good housekeeping of the area.
  • Control flow of inedible egg product to the inedible tanker bay.
  • Assist in other areas as needed, including mixing product in the mixing room.
  • Inedible Tanker Bay Person
  • Monitor augers and machinery in the shell room, ensuring proper operation.
  • Monitor all chemical pumps, ensuring they are filled and functioning.
  • Maintain general good housekeeping; clean transfer room floors and machinery and dispose of bad egg barrels.
  • Clean tankers.
  • Enter data and complete required paperwork.
  • Fill in at all transfer room positions as needed.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions, and support SQF Level 3 certification.
  • Report to management any conditions that may adversely affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; approximately 1 year experience in the Breaking Department with cross‑training in the tanker bay area.

    Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one‑to‑one and small group settings.

    Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions; solve problems with concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Approximately 1 year experience in the Breaking Department with cross‑training in the tanker bay area.
  • Strong mechanical ability.
  • Good reading and writing skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Follow GMP and safety regulations; wear proper PPE.
  • Ability to work in wet environment with changing temperatures, indoors and outdoors.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Follow Lock Out/Tag Out and Confined Space entry procedures.
  • Climb onto tankers using a safety harness.
  • Work safely with chemicals.
  • Obtain PIT certification.
  • Combine education and experience to perform essential duties.
  • Operate specific equipment or tools.
