Our purpose is to deliver a sustainable future for the world through science and collaboration. Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Operator. The Associate Operator operates assigned equipment or areas of the plant to ensure safe, quality, and efficient operation of the entire plant.

This role includes operating control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, flow rates and transfer of products, writing Safe Work Permits, sampling, area checks, Red Tags, Return to Operations (RTO), completing checklists, housekeeping, and related duties.

Responsibilities
  • Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operate and field check process equipment; monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems.
  • Perform tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List (e.g., field checks, equipment preparation, samples).
  • Ensure operational activities and process performance align with Plant and business goals.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
  • Initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations as required.
  • Coach and train others on plant operations.
  • Perform immediate response activities as assigned by the Immediate Response Leader.
  • Use process knowledge to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline.
  • Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.
  • Perform all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent AND one of the following:
    Associate degree in Process Technology; 3+ years of relevant military experience; 2+ years of industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Willing and able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies as a member of the Emergency Response Team with a three-year commitment.
  • Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card. Information on TWIC eligibility requirements is available at the TSA website.
  • Minimum requirement to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship is available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous process operator/technician experience.
Technical and Safety Skills
  • Process Operation:
    Ability to operate and monitor plant equipment and control systems to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Diagnose and resolve process, equipment, and safety issues to maintain optimal plant performance.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Follow safety protocols, write Safe Work Permits, and participate in emergency response activities.
  • Technical Communication:
    Document procedures, complete checklists, and communicate effectively with team members during operations.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    Perform minor repairs, equipment checks, and preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift, push, and pull; frequent bending, reaching, and lifting; stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders; work in tight and closed spaces.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (earplugs, goggles, hard hat, steel-toed shoes).
  • Work in areas of intense or continuous noise and in areas with hazardous materials.
  • Essential functions may require use of on-site safety equipment with weight limitations; certain equipment may be rated for a maximum weight.

This position does not offer relocation assistance. The role requires eligibility to work in the U.S. and may involve relocating without relocation support where applicable.
