The Shaw Group, LLC is seeking a skilled Shop Combo Welder to support industrial construction and fabrication projects in our modern facilities. In this role, you will perform high-quality carbon and alloy steel welding on pipe and structural components for major energy, petrochemical, and industrial clients. Responsibilities include reading blueprints and isometrics, setting up and maintaining welding equipment, executing code-quality welds, and supporting quality control and NDE requirements.
You will work in a safety-first, team-oriented environment with opportunities to develop advanced technical skills and contribute to large, long-term projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality combo welding on pipe and structural components per project specifications and industry codes
- Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures to prepare and complete welds
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, tools, and fixtures safely and efficiently in the shop
- Conduct weld fit-up, alignment, and tack welding to ensure proper joint preparation and tolerances
- Perform visual inspections and support NDE processes to verify weld quality and adherence to standards
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies in a fabrication shop environment
- Collaborate with fabricators, foremen, and quality inspectors to meet production schedules and project deadlines
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, heat numbers, and weld traceability as required
- Assist with material handling, layout, and basic fabrication tasks to support shop operations
- Identify and report defects, equipment issues, and improvement opportunities to supervisors
