Diversified Technologies Inc. is seeking an
Industrial Engineer (I.E.)to help improve manufacturing processes, increase productivity, reduce costs, improve quality, and optimize the use of people, equipment, materials, and facility space.
The Industrial Engineer will work closely with
Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Management
to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions throughout the manufacturing operation.
This job description is intended to be a general guideline of responsibilities.
There will be incidental tasks not listed on a job description that arise and, as a member of the DTI team.
Each employee is expected to help in as many of these areas as they can.
- Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement methods to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, safety, and workflow.
- Perform time studies, work measurements, and process evaluations.
- Establish and maintain standard work instructions and manufacturing processes.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, downtime, waste, and other inefficiencies.
- Improve material flow and optimize workstation and facility layouts.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation.
- Work with Engineering and Production to improve manufacturability of new and existing products.
- Identify opportunities to reduce labor, material, scrap, rework, and overhead costs.
- Develop proposals and cost/benefit analyses for process improvements.
- Assist with capital equipment evaluations and justification.
- Help select and implement tooling, fixtures, equipment, and process improvements.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with identifying and eliminating the causes of production delays and recurring problems.
- Work with Quality to reduce defects, rework, and process variation.
- Work with Maintenance and Production to improve equipment utilization and reliability.
- Assist with facility planning, workstation design, and ergonomic improvements.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are designed with employee safety in mind.
- Provide management with recommendations based on data and process analysis.
- Train employees and supervisors on new processes, procedures, and standard work when necessary.
- Follow up on implemented improvements to verify that expected results are achieved.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Industrial Engineer will be expected to continually look for ways to:

- Reduce manufacturing costs

- Reduce unnecessary movement
- Increase production capacity without unnecessarily increasing labor
Required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and processes.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, engineers, and management.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor.
Preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with time studies and labor standards.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with CAD or manufacturing layout software.
- Experience with process improvement and continuous improvement programs.
- Experience with CNC, welding, fabrication, assembly, powder coating, or other manufacturing processes.
