This position manages and leads the designated department(s) within the company. This role will oversee the Production Supervisors and report to the Operations Manager. They will be responsible for collaborating with Production Scheduling, Quality, Human Resources and Maintenance to maintain the production of quality products safely and efficiently. The development of strong processes and efficiencies as well as the ability to collaborate closely with all internal partners are critical aspects of this position.

An employee in this position is expected to maintain 75% of their time on the production floor.

• Always manage all personnel and their safety.
• Manage and train personnel on Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, measure and problem solve for loss and waste of materials.
• Manage personnel issues and concerns including hiring, promoting, following disciplinary procedures, managing timecards and vacations.
• Develop personnel to move into higher roles.
• Insures both departmental and inter-departmental cross training is achieved.
• Assign orders to production lines in accordance with the production schedule.
• Participates in the control of specification process.
• Check machine status and verify housekeeping and cleanliness of the production area.
• Verify and monitor Hour by Hour boards and drive changes in reporting of information,
• Work as part of the Continuous Improvement team when necessary.

• Review scheduling for all applicable departments and impacts to meeting customer needs.
  • Make material shortages known in a timely manner.
  • Make packaging constraints known in a timely manner. i.e., downtime, machine changeovers, or other items that would contribute to not meeting shipments or customer needs.
• Plan for and communicate temporary labor needs when necessary.
• Assist in the management of material needs for all departments.
• Adhere to all food safety and SQF requirements and meet all plant and employee safety requirements.

• Education – Associates/bachelor’s degree in business management or related field/equivalent experience.
• Experience and Training – Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production/packing supervisory position. SQF Certified or food manufacturing environment (Preferred).
• Technology/Equipment
  – Experience using Microsoft Office;
  Excel, word, outlook;
  Knowledge of ERP and MRP systems.
• Characteristics – Excellent oral and written communication skills with multiple levels of the organization:
  Able to identify and lead troubleshooting;
  Strong priority and time management skills;
  Ability to provide leadership and guidance to others, including during high pressure situations;
  Ability to train using methods appropriate for the situation;
  Good mechanical aptitude. Ability to communicate respectively and effectively between different departments/shifts and to work in a teamwork setting.
