About the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New Orleans – a 501(c)6 non-profitAIA New Orleans is a member-driven professional association that advances the practice of architecture in New Orleans through a comprehensive program of professional development, professional peer engagement, advocacy, and public awareness activities. AIA holds several big annual events:
Design Awards, Brew & 'Cue, Bowling Tournament, Golf Tournament, and manages other ongoing education events like construction tours and “Town Halls” with city and state officials.
The Content & Communications Manager is the voice, storyteller, and connective tissue of our organization. This role shapes how we communicate with architect members, professional affiliates, partners, and the broader community—ensuring our mission, programs, and people are clearly, creatively, and consistently represented across all platforms.
This position blends strategic communications, content creation, program support, and operational coordination. The ideal candidate is an organized, creative self-starter who enjoys managing messaging, logistics, and relationship-building to help an organization thrive.
Job Responsibilities Communications & Content Creation• Develop, write, design, and distribute engaging content across digital platforms, including:
- Email campaigns and newsletters
- Social media posts, stories, and promotions
- Website updates and original written content
- Event marketing and announcements
• Tell the story of the organization’s mission, programs, and members in a way that encourages participation and community connection.
• Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all communications.
Programming Development & Outreach• Support the development, promotion, and execution of organizational programs, events, and initiatives.
• Coordinate outreach efforts to increase attendance, engagement, and participation across member and public-facing programs.
• Assist with program logistics, communications, and follow-up in collaboration with committees, volunteers, and leadership.
• Help identify opportunities to expand programming reach and strengthen community partnerships.
Member, Community & Appointment Coordination• Serve as a key communications contact for:
- Architect members
- Professional affiliate members
- Volunteers, partners, and members of the general public
• Coordinate appointment scheduling for meetings, programs, tours, and use of organizational spaces.
• Manage calendars and communications related to Executive Director meetings, committee coordination, and program planning.
Office & Executive Support• Provide administrative and operational support to the Executive Director.
• Assist with internal communications, scheduling, and coordination related to board and committee activities.
• Support daily office operations and ensure smooth coordination between staff, members, and partners.
Data, Facilities & Operations Management• Manage member and contact data, ensuring accuracy across databases and platforms.
• Track engagement metrics for emails, social media, website traffic, and programs; assist with reporting and insights.
• Help oversee the organization’s brick-and-mortar location, including scheduling, basic facilities coordination, and on-site support for events and programming.
Candidate Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience with strong professional references.
• Demonstrated success in event coordination and implementation.
• Demonstrated interest in architecture / design / urbanism or related field and a strong commitment to the advancement of the built environment and design in New Orleans.
• The ideal candidate is an energetic, goal-oriented, team player, with a mix of people-facing skills and a conscientiousness for accuracy and clarity.
