UNI Community Collaboration Coordinator VISTA, Seed Co
Join a powerful partnership between the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) and the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley (VCCV). UNI is committed to enriching Iowa through transformative learning and service, while VCCV mobilizes volunteers and strengthens the region’s nonprofit network. Together, we believe community engagement should be woven into the fabric of campus life all year long. As the Community Collaboration Coordinator VISTA, you’ll help design the systems that make this vision sustainable.
Your work will;
Institutionalize the UNI Day of Service as a signature component of the University’s 2028 Strategic Plan;
Create toolkits, processes, and communication pathways that make it easier for faculty, staff, and students, including non-traditional and place-bound learners, to connect with meaningful service opportunities;
Strengthen collaboration with the Cedar Valley Nonprofit Association, ensuring local organizations have a consistent, skilled pipeline of student volunteers and project support. This role is about more than coordinating events, it’s about building the long-term infrastructure that supports a thriving, mutually beneficial campus–community ecosystem.
If you’re passionate about community engagement, systems building, and creating lasting impact, this position gives you the chance to leave a legacy that will benefit UNI students and Cedar Valley nonprofits for years to come. The VISTA will assist in the planning of the UNI Campus Wide Day of Service / campus-wide engagement project. Analyze feedback and data from the inaugural event participation to identify success and friction points.
Create a comprehensive planning guide or tool kit with timelines, templates, and marketing strategies for future events. Develop and implement strategies & systems to support organizational participation in the UNI Day of Service. Develop a formal system for organizations to connect with skill‑based help during future days of service—How we think about what this looks like for/on campus.
